To Our Downtown Community,

The Fall season if officially upon us and with it brings a crisp change to Downtown St. Louis. Winter and holiday-themed events are popping-up throughout the District, outdoor decorations are hung, and neighbors gather to celebrate all that we are thankful for this year. While this has undoubtedly been a challenging year managing through the pandemic, I am grateful for the accomplishments and contributions the Downtown St. Louis Community Improvement District (CID) and our partners have made to the community.

We are pleased to announce our partnership with Pocketparks and our recent contribution to their enhancement efforts through a $10,000 donation towards the redevelopment the Downtown DUC Park. Located at 10th Street and Locust Street, the DUC Park is transforming a previously vacant lot to a welcoming, active space for the community. The CID’s investment will assist with the extension of the rainbow mural, installation of picnic benches, and implementation of community centered events.

An additional effort to activate community spaces is in collaboration with the Gateway Arch Park Foundation, PGAV Destinations, and Greater St. Louis, Inc. in introducing the new Night Markets at Winterfest. Held December 11th from 4pm – 8pm and December 17th from 4pm – 8pm, the Night Markets will feature craft items from local vendors, art installations, live music and more. The return of Winterfest and its new installments will not only bring revenue to local businesses, but also activate one of Downtown’s most iconic spaces for families, coworkers, and friends to enjoy.

The spirit of the holiday season extends throughout the District with our recent installment of Winter-themed wreaths and planters. These decorations will brighten Downtown’s street corners and light posts for the duration of Winter while our floral seedlings begin to take growth in greenhouses for next Summer.

The Thanksgiving holiday can hold various traditions and memories for each family, bringing together people of all ages and beliefs. One belief that I imagine holds true for all is quite simple: showing appreciation for what you have by supporting your community. We can all support our neighbors in different ways, from shopping local to investing in community enhancement projects. This holiday season, I encourage you to think about the impact you have on your community and how it impacts you in return. From our entire Community Improvement District team, we wish you a safe, healthy, and happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,
