Residential Safety Workshop

Safe practices from experienced pros

The CID’s Residential Safety Workshop provides guidance to Downtown residents on how to practice standard safety measures and remain aware of their surroundings. The workshop is free of charge and designed for residential building groups, rather than individuals.

The safety workshop helps to make residents more aware of their surroundings and understand how to best react to potentially unsafe situations. Often, simple precautionary measures can increase personal safety, such as parking in well-lit areas or taking out one earbud while walking at night, making it easier to hear upcoming foot or vehicle traffic. We encourage participants to be engaged and ask questions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in poll questions from the host(s) related to security best practices and awareness.

Specifically, during these workshops, CID Executive Director Kelli McCrary:

  1. Reports up-to-date crime activity

  2. Highlights the Safety Officer Program and how to utilize it

  3. Shares other current CID safety efforts

  4. Provides simple tips pedestrians can utilize to remain alert

  5. Introduces representatives from local safety and security partners to provides updates – including SLMPD. These workshops are designated for residential building groups, not individuals.

This 90-minute workshop can be held in person or via video conference.
